The Nul IFS Therapy Programme offers a structured yet human approach to reducing alcohol, grounded in neuroscience, IFS therapy, and with the objective of creating long-term behavioural changes. Over six months, you’ll explore not just how you drink but why – supported by a psychologist, group connection, and practical tools.
You’ll gain a deeper understanding of your patterns, reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been overlooked, and begin to replace habit with choices and intention. This medication-free programme is designed to help you build emotional resilience, improve self-trust, and create lasting change - not just around alcohol, but across your life.
You can reach out to Nul anytime at hello@choosenul.com for clarifications or if you would like further advice. Don’t forget that during your programme you will have regular 1:1 sessions with an experienced IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapist where you can discuss your progress.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a powerful therapeutic model that views the mind as made up of “parts” – each with its own perspective, emotions, and needs. Rather than fighting, shaming or suppressing the part that drinks, IFS helps you understand and heal it with compassion. This approach addresses the underlying emotional pain, trauma, or unmet needs that drive addictive behaviour. As you build a connection with your ‘Self’ – the calm, compassionate core of who you are – the need for alcohol naturally lessens.
Sessions are conducted remotely with your dedicated therapist, as well as part of a group of peers. You’ll also have access to self-guided therapeutic content and tools between sessions to reinforce the ground you cover in your sessions.
No, all of our sessions are currently online. We have consistently found that this works just as well as in-person sessions.
In 1:1 sessions, you’ll work closely with your therapist using Internal Family Systems (IFS) and somatic awareness to explore the parts of you that use alcohol and, beyond this, how you feel in your own skin in different aspects of your life. Together, you’ll learn to meet those parts with curiosity and compassion, uncover the unmet needs beneath the behaviour, and reconnect with your inner Self – the calm, confident and grounded presence at the core of your being. Individual therapy allows for tailored support that complements the group work.
Group sessions offer a powerful space for shared healing, reflection, and community. You’ll participate in guided IFS-based processes, body awareness practices, and group discussions that help you explore your relationship with yourself and with alcohol in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Listening to others’ experiences can illuminate your own inner world and help dissolve shame. Each group is facilitated by experienced therapists who ensure emotional safety, confidentiality, and compassionate witnessing for all members.
Not at all. There’s no 12-step structure, no labels, and no forced abstinence. Our therapy is trauma-informed, non-judgmental, and tailored to your unique relationship with alcohol and emotional history.
We recognise that reducing or stopping alcohol use is a process. You are not required to be completely abstinent when you begin. The programme meets you where you are at each step and with your own personal goals, supporting you in understanding your relationship with alcohol rather than enforcing sobriety. Your therapist will work with you to find the safest and most supportive pace for your unique journey.
Sustainable healing takes time. The 6-month structure allows enough space for the nervous system, body, and inner parts to settle, integrate, and reorganise at a deep level. It provides the consistency needed to move from insight to embodiment – from understanding your patterns to living in genuine self-leadership. Each phase of the programme builds on the previous one, and six months offers a complete arc of learning, healing, and transformation.
For many, the 6 months will be more than sufficient for you to make the changes that you desire. However, should you wish to, you can remain involved through individual therapy, participation in groups, and/or access to our audio/video resource library for ongoing self-guided practice. This flexible approach allows you to maintain connection and accountability without committing to a new full programme cycle.
If you suspect that your drinking is emotionally driven, stress-related, or part of a deeper pattern that you want to shift, then this programme could be a great choice, especially if you’ve tried to cut back before and it hasn’t stuck. If you’ve ever thought, “I know I drink to cope, but I don’t know how else to manage or relax,” the Nul IFS Therapy Programme is for you.
